It is one of the best preserved fortresses of Galicia and the best example of medieval military architecture. Thick walls of this castle was built on a cliff on the banks of river Pambre. It was the only fortress which resisted the attacks of the fifteenth century irmandiños.
CHURCH – MONASTERIO IN Vilar OF DA
Declared a historic-artistic monument in 1931, Church of Vilar de Donas is one of the most important examples of Galician Romanesque Camino de Santiago. It was a female monastery in the twelfth century to be donated to the Knights Templar of the Order of Santiago, protecting the Camino de Santiago in Galicia and its pilgrims (speaking of "The Da Vinci Code").

Original twelfth century, from which we have just reached the main entrance, it only remains of his time building the Romanesque doorway of one of its facades.

The Sierra de O Careón is protected for the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora countryside. Of special interest are medicinal plants and endemic species protected, that coexist in a harmonious natural set of great beauty.
